Aviation is a complex and dynamic industry that requires hard work, determination, and adaptability. For Enda Corneille, it all began with a simple job advertisement in the newspaper back in 1986. Little did he know that this would lead him on a journey from counting tickets to becoming a country manager for one of the world’s leading airlines.
Over the years, Enda climbed the corporate ladder, taking on roles such as a sales executive in London, a country manager in Switzerland and the Netherlands, head of sales for Ireland, and commercial director. He spent six years on the leadership team of Aer Lingus, which gave him the opportunity to learn from some of the industry’s best and brightest.
Enda’s career in the aviation industry was not without challenges. In 2001, Enda found himself in the midst of the aftermath of 9/11. Two Aer Lingus aircraft had been forced to land at Gander in Newfoundland due to the closure of all transatlantic lanes. Enda joined a small team that flew to Gander to fix the broken aircraft and provide toiletries and supplies for the passengers. What was supposed to be a quick trip turned into a week and a half of hard work, but Enda and his team were successful in bringing everyone home safely.
Enda’s journey in the aviation industry taught him many things. He learned the importance of being curious, working hard, and being adaptable. Most importantly, Enda learned the value of taking risks, making decisions, and following them through, even if they turned out to be bad decisions. Want to hear the full story?
